Capri-Sonne

We swim for UNICEF

Since 2008, Capri-Sonne and UNICEF have joined forces with swimming clubs to hold swimathons and raise money.

The proceeds are divided. At least half of the money goes to the UNICEF project "Schools for Africa,“ while the other half can be used by the club itself for activities such as swimming lessons. The famous German TV host and UNICEF representative Bärbel Schäfer is the spokeswoman for the campaign.

The idea is quite basic: swimming clubs hold swimathons to raise money. Before the event, all of the participants find sponsors (such as their parents, grandparents, friends or business people) who are willing to pay the child a certain amount for each lap he/ she swimms. In other words, the more the children swim, the more they earn money for a good cause. Capri-Sonne assumes a large part of the administrative costs of the campaign, which means that the money kids raise can be put to especially effective use.

The campaign is supported by several national swimming clubs who ask their member clubs to get involved.
