Major charitable campaign in honor of the 2010 International Children's Day

To celebrate this year's International Children's Day, Capri-Sonne and the furniture store chain XXXL-Möbelhäuser joined forces and donated gift certificates to four facilities of the SOS Children’s Village. The gift amounted to a total of €40,000 and supports the important work that the SOS organizations do.

Nuremberg got new furniture first

The first of the four facilities to receive the long-awaited new furniture was the vocational training center in Nuremberg, where the recently renovated foyer desperately needed new furnishings. The huge truck pulled right up to the door on September 17th, where the children and teenagers were already eagerly waiting.

The truck brought them new shelves, chairs and much more: the Nuremberg site was allowed to select complete new furnishings for a total of €10,000. Gift certificates for €10,000 in furniture each went to three other sites: the SOS youth aid center of Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen, the SOS Children’s Village of the Upper Palatinate and the SOS aid center for children and teenagers in Weilheim.

Four SOS Children's Village facilities got new furniture they desperately needed

The four representatives from the SOS sites were delighted by the new furniture, which could not have come at a better time. In Nuremberg they had just completely redone the foyer, while the other facilities were in great need of tables and chairs for tutoring services and furnishings for teenagers' bedrooms.

The four thanked the donors on behalf of all of the children and young adults. From left: Christina Buchner (Nuremberg), Andreas Tonke (Nuremberg-Fürth-Erlangen), Alfred Schuster (Upper Palatinate) and Anneliese Beckereit (Weilheim).

Bright, inviting and now newly furnished as well

People celebrated the arrival of the new furniture in the freshly-renovated but still empty foyer. The head of the SOS vocational training center in Nuremberg, Christina Buchner, had set up a competition among the young people at the vocational training center: who could come up with the best idea for redesigning the foyer?

There were plenty of good ideas, but until that time, they didn't have the right furniture. But all that has changed, thanks to Capri-Sonne and XXXL-Möbelhäuser; now they can finish giving the facility a brand new look.

Beaming children's faces in Nuremberg

The children from the daycare center in Nuremberg were also there when Capri-Sonne and the XXXL-Möbelhäuser furniture shop sent the huge truck. They shared the adults' joy as the furniture for the foyer arrived.
